I’d like to see the demographics for the bait-fishers

The USFWS has just released an addendum to the 2006 National Survey of Hunting, Fishing and Wildlife Associated Recreation.  This addendum focuses on the demographics and economics of trout fishing and can be read in full here 


  • Trout anglers spent $4.8 billion nationwide on their sport in 2006
  • The overall economic impact of trout fishing in 2006 was $13.6 billion
  • There are 6.8 million trout anglers in the United States
  • Trout anglers make up approximately 27% of all freshwater anglers
  • 49% of trout anglers are age 35-54
  • 25% of trout anglers are Women
  • 23% of trout anglers earn $50,000-$74,999
  • 25% of trout anglers Earn $100,000
