Last week’s highlight — now 2 weeks ago

April 22, 2010

[Things have been hectic in the Sierra Club world of late, so much so, that I’m finally able to dust off this draft and finish it — then on to mow the grass before the 4-days of promised rain sets in.]  Last Thursday I was able to escape “on business” and enjoyed a beautiful spring day.  We had to meet the Tribal President and the Oglala Sioux Parks & Recreation gang out at Indian Creek for a photo session and tailgate lunch.

So, there you have it — the gang from Oglala Sioux Parks & Recreation Authority and President Theresa Two Bulls.  A talented bunch of wildlife and land mangers that I enjoy hanging out with.  The Pres is wearing the fancy shawl; to her left is, never without the hat, Birgil Kills Straight, OSPRA’s ED; on the the Pres’ right is Monica Terkildsen, OSPRA’s incredible administrator who put me on her KILI radio show; and Dr.Trudy Ecoffey, OSPRA’s wildlife biologist and a guiding light.  Come next month I hope to get a couple of my folks to go into the field with Trudy’s crew to monitor swift fox natal dens.

It’s relationship that continues to pay off.  This morning I was informed by the grassland wilderness campaign’s DC publicist that one of my pictures of this gang was being used in a full-page newspaper wilderness ad — and I was even getting a photo credit.  Oh, it’s big money in this NPO racket.
