Feral pigs in Lake County

November 25, 2009

Chad Aker shot a feral pig about 14 miles northwest of Madison in Lake County eariler this month.  The gray and black hog weighed in around 200 pounds and had grown three inch tusks.   Farmers putting up silage had spotted the pig earlier during the latter part of September.

Apart from maybe inducing Doc Grinley to pack his T/C  pistol, foresake the deep South, and visit this new hunting ground, I don’t have much use for feral pigs in SoDak.  I’m hoping this little tusker will claim and maintain legendary status for a long, long time.

(Not the pig in question, but representative of the sort)

Have a good Thanksgiving — I’m hitting the road.
