Cabela’s donates mounts to Chadron State

October 9, 2009

Cabela’s has come through big time for the wildlife management program at Chadron State College in Chadron, NE.  The college was trying to acquire a mounted caribou to expand the it’s collection and wrote to Cabela’s inquiring whether it would be possible to acquire a mount through the company.  Cabela’s responded generously, donating 65 full body mounts of large species, including moose, elk, mountain lion, caribou, deer, grizzly bear, African lion, and zebra.

Cabela’s was warehousing the mounts at its Sidney location, awaiting use in displays at new stores.  With the down-turn in the economy plans for future expansion were put on hold and the mounts were deemed surplus inventory.

The donation is a real plus for the wildlife management and biology programs at Chadron State where the mounts will be used for teaching anatomy and physiology.  So next time you’re in a Cabela’s, tell them thanks for the help the company sent Chadron State’s way.
